Vilner’s 20th Anniversary Shelby Mustang GT500 Super Snake

A long but deserved label

Because this is one of the most important and special cars made by Vilner. One of the reasons for that – this is the first car that wears the “Vilner Studio 20 Years Anniversary“ stamp, the first car of a special series that will highlight those 20 years of experience, craftsmanship and perseverance of Art Studio Vilner. The stamp itself is a special piece made from aerospace grade aluminum and then CNC machined to represent that important anniversary. Exactly that kind of precision is one of the reasons for Vilner to be what it is today, two decades after the first project. To the project car. This is the most brutal incarnation of Mustang ever made – 2013 Shelby Mustang Super Snake.

What we have here is a 5.8-litre V8 fed by a water cooled Kenne Bell supercharger. It delivers 747 hp to the rear wheels. The engine itself generates 850 hp and 830 Nm. This is a truly special car, the 57th out of 500 ever made by Shelby American. A pure representation of the original idea of Carroll Shelby – massive V8 into small sports car, the A/C Ace that famously became the mighty A/C Cobra. The Mustang body is not so small, but the massive engine characteristics makes for that. Strong and special base for that Vilner project.

The car’s owner wanted to find a special place where his Super Snake to be converted adequately. And after several months in search through Europe’s based tuners he decided to go for Vilner’s Sofia based atelier.

The “Vilner’s 20th anniversary” magic begun short after the Super Snake was unloaded. The car came from Romania. The only untouched interior parts are the silver dashboard panel, the door handles and the gear leaver ball – all the rest is “20th Anniversary” cared, leaving the original Shelby number plate.

Respect to the origin of the car. Beige leather, black Alcantara and glossy lacquered carbon. Even the steering column is wrapped in Alcantara, together with the transmission tunnel and some areas at the door panels and the seats.

The latest also received a “Shelby GT500 Super Snake” embroidery and above – carbon fiber frames for the sport seatbelt’s holes.

The “Snake” is red, also like the belts, the seat stripes, the contrast stitching and also like the central marker on the wheel.

Vilner used an interesting method for some of the hard plastics inside. It’s called flocking and it has been used to treatt the central armrest, the A-pillars – complete with the gauges for the fuel pressure, oil pressure and for the boost – and also for the plastic elements in the boot and the subwoofer and even the glove box. The result is a smooth and soft suede like texture that is also is very durable. Some modifications though are hidden from view. Vilner has made an extensive sound deadening treatment for the Super Snake.

Special panels and pads are installed at some key areas so the cockpit is now much more comfortable place to be. At the same, the great V8 rumble, the supercharger scream and exhaust notes still can be heard and to be pleasing. “It’s hard to believe that this is the same car,” said the owner. And last but not least, Vilner’s trademark – a special bag has been made.

Two of them actually, matching the car’s interior. One for the owner and one for his lady. Beige leather, red “Super Snake” embroidery and carbon fiber buckles - accessories that can’t be more appropriate for this truly special car. Vilner’s 20th Anniversary Shelby Mustang GT500 Super Snake – a brutal muscle car that represents the spirit of Carroll Shelby, illustrating Vilner’s know-how developed now for over two decades.
